The role
This is a sample listing. It shows how a real role will look once one is posted.
You will be the first dedicated HR leader in a 120 person logistics company based in Atlanta. Until now HR has been shared between the operations director and the office manager. The company is hiring steadily and needs one person to own it.
In your first year you will:
- Take over hiring for hourly and salaried roles, around 40 hires a year
- Put a simple, consistent onboarding in place for every new starter
- Rebuild the employee handbook and make sure managers actually use it
- Be the person managers come to before a problem becomes a complaint
- Run benefits enrollment and work with the payroll provider on corrections
You report to the Chief Operating Officer and work three days a week on site.
What you bring
- Five or more years in HR, with at least two as the most senior HR person in the building
- Hands-on hiring experience for both hourly and salaried roles
- Working knowledge of Georgia and federal employment law
- SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus, not a requirement
- Comfortable being the only HR person in the room, and saying what needs to be said
